Because Slack does not run built-in commerce for the directory, publishers set and collect any charges themselves, so listings range from free utilities to paid services billed outside the platform. Building starts at the Slack API site, where the platform documents events, OAuth, and the Bolt framework. Official SDKs cover Node.js and Python, and a template for slash commands and dialogs gives newcomers a working starting point.
Apps can target a single workspace or be distributed publicly to any team, and administrators install and manage them through workspace controls.
